Ways to Step Up Your Work Week Wardrobe
Mackenzi Pitman is a Noonday Ambassador, wife, and momma of a feisty toddler (with one on the way!). Mackenzi recently transitioned from life as a stay at home mom to life as a full time working mama. Today she shares her tips for elevating your work week wardrobe using your favorite Noonday accessories!
5:00 a.m. comes quick every morning. At our house, the coffee pot is set to start its brew at the that time, and we wake up to its pleasant aroma. What I have learned since going back to work full time is that early mornings are like my secret. It is the only time when the house is quiet and I can sit and drink my coffee with both hands. I usually use this time to pray, read, or sometimes just spend some baby-free moments with the hubs. These are my daily “fringe moments” that I reserve for self care.
But at 6:00, our feet hit the ground running. Showers, getting ready, and a little house work before our little guy wakes close to 7:00 and we have to get him ready for the day and head out the door for work.
I recently made the transition from being a stay at home mom to working full time. So needless to say, it has been quite the adjustment trading in yoga pants for collared shirts. In general, a very small portion of my morning is devoted to getting myself ready for the day. (But isn’t that true for everyone?!) And while I neither have the time or patience to spend a long time getting ready in the morning, I am one of those people who performs better throughout my day when I feel put-together. Granted, I do choose between brushing my teeth and washing my hair…but I still aim to get put-together! (Jokes on the teeth brushing part, but the clean hair thing is a real struggle).
But I tell you what, the addition of either a statement accessory or a staple piece makes a world of a difference in the aim to “step it up” a bit for the work day. Below, I have shared 3 Noonday Collection looks that are paired with items that you likely already have in your closet!
First I’ll start by defining my style. Very neutral. Very relaxed. But with pops of polish and fun! It’s been fun finding my stride again in the world of fashion now that I am spending more time outside the home these days.
For the Monday Grind
I imagine many of you have a striped top in your wardrobe somewhere. Mixing a statement necklace with a printed top often tones down and anchors the blouse and completes an outfit. And while the drama of the Folktale Necklace intimidated me at first, once I put it on I fell in love with its organic and natural look.
This HAND CARVED wooden beauty was made by amazing Artisans in India who are receiving fair wages and dignified work through Noonday Collection’s orders!
For Hump Day
Gray shirt. Mom bun (high or low), statement earrings.
Because let’s be real, washed hair is overrated. Instead, go for the dry shampoo, pull your hair up look–and let these fun Feathered Fringe Earrings brighten up your eyes and do all the talking. There is just something about fringed leather that always communicates, “I am having fun today!”
….even if it is in fact hump day and the weekend is not here yet.
For (Finally) Friday!
Paired with a J-Crew chambray, I have added the colorful Spectrum Bracelet, Set in Stone Cuff, and the Earthbound Necklace to complete this look. With the collar on this shirt, you already communicate professionalism, but the denim material also says “relaxed.” While these are the pieces I chose to sport today, let’s be real, you can virtually wear any Noonday accessory with chambray!
As your work week gets going, remember that ultimately a stylish outfit alone won’t carry you through. (Though it certainly can promote self confidence!) Remember that fresh perspective beats almost anything else. Wake up early, drink your coffee with both hands, and give your mind some space to breath before you hit the ground running. Then put on some earrings, and go kill it this week!
