  • Literacy

  1. What moment here is the most significant to you, and why?
There are so many significant moments. When I first came, I did not really like my job. I was introduced to the Artisan Business upon my return to Asia and I accepted the job because I did not think I had many other options. When I first arrived I saw some of my coworkers not participating in classes or growing academically as quickly as I thought they should. I was skeptical that this company could live up to its vocational training claims.

Now, almost three years later, I LOVE my job. I’ve studied and learned more in the last three years. This company is such a good company. I have learned that growth is a personal choice and it is up to each person to take advantage of the opportunities they have been given.

I am taking full advantage of every opportunity that the Artisan Business has to offer. I have big dreams and I can’t wait to achieve them.

When I have faced conflicts or struggles, people here have rallied around me and supported me. There are so many people here and I know that I am not alone. I am so grateful for this supportive community.

Everything is an opportunity for growth and development.  My supervisors here do not criticize me for mistakes but see each challenge as an opportunity for training and learning.

  1. How have you changed since you arrived here? How did that moment change you?
I have grown in so many ways since arriving almost three years ago. I have been able to solidify my skills, to learn what I did not have the opportunity to learn as a child. I have been able to study in a supportive environment that care more what my retention of my lessons than how many lessons I can complete each week. Now that I have a solid foundation I am able to learn new skills. I have at least two classes everyday and I love it!

Before coming here, I did not have trustworthy or authentic relationships. I did not trust people easily. Since joining this team, I have learned that people can be authentic and they can truly care for me. I have developed trusting and committed friendships.

  1. What is your happiest memory at the Artisan Business?
Our trip to the beach a few years ago was awesome! I was my first time to the beach and it was so much fun to go with coworkers. I loved playing in the sand.
  2. What would you like our customers to know about you or your work?
I am happy to work with such nice people.
