Get to Know the Moms Who Inspire Us
We love celebrating moms, and we believe that motherhood can come in all shapes and sizes. To honor some of the moms in the Noonday community, we gifted them with pieces from our new Storyline Collection. This collection is perfect for Mother’s Day not only because it’s gold-plated and luxurious, but because it tells a story and empowers women across the globe. We asked these ladies and their children to share a little more about what makes their family so special. Want to do this with your own family? Scroll down or click here to download the PDF!
What is something that makes your children special?
Susan: I love that I have the privilege of watching 7 children discover the unique way that God has created them to be unique. It would be easy to try to follow in the footsteps of the oldest in the family, but that would be a mistake. God has given each one of them a different personality, style, interests, and goals- the challenge or should I say adventure, is watching each of them discover those pieces of themselves. My role is to encourage them to seek out those pieces of themselves, that’s what makes life fun.
What is your favorite thing to do with your mom?
Amira: I like to hang out with my mom we always have fun talking and laughing. It’s a lot of fun to be around her.
What is one of your biggest dreams in life?
Susan: One day I look forward to traveling the world, but for now, my dream is to see my children overcome the obstacles they face in life and shine in spite of the hurdles. I want to raise my children with a fire in their soul that burns for God’s best and they won’t settle for anything less.
Leticia Coto: I am Brazilian, have a degree in education, am a wife but above all, I’m a MOM. I was introduced to Noonday a little over 4 years ago when my husband, Arturo, began working at Home Office. I have loved following Noonday’s impact and just over a year ago became an Ambassador. I am proud to represent such a wonderful community and grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference in the world.
What is a way you want to be like your mom?
Victor: I want to speak 3 different languages fluently and be good with animals, just like mom!
What is your favorite thing to do with your mom?
Izabela: My favorite thing to do with my mom is to go travel to brazil and see our family! She always makes airports and airplanes less stressful and more fun!
What qualities do you most enjoy about your kids?
Leticia: The quality that I most enjoy about Victor is that he is so empathetic towards all, he has this heart of gold, full of kindness. And the quality I most enjoy about Bela is her ability to love and appreciate life and create connections wherever she goes.
What makes your mom laugh?
Victor: My mom laughs when I’m funny in a sarcastic way and also when me and my sisters make jokes together!
Martha Lowe: Four and a half years ago, I returned from a nearly 40-year stint in Houston and Midland Texas to live in Austin where I grew up and graduated from the University of Texas. I worked at Noonday in the accounting area until last September and came to love the mission and people of Noonday. You will find me on just about any day enjoying Bible study, mentoring, having a good meal with friends, traveling or taking care of my granddaughter Sage.
Ann Edgerton (daughter of Martha): I am an interior decorator, stylist, and mother who lives in Austin, Texas. I have also had the privilege of doing product styling for several of Noonday’s lookbooks!
What is your favorite thing to do with your daughter?
Martha: My favorite thing to do with Ann is to go on little weekend trips with her. We get to be together without distractions and relax and enjoy each other’s company and usually enjoy great meals together. We have been making these trips together since Ann was just a little girl and, living in Midland Texas, we would go to Lubbock for our trips.
What is a way your child has helped you?
Ann: Sage has helped me take a deeper look at who i am and what I believe in. Knowing that someone is looking at me to guide them through this confusing world makes me want to figure a few things out. Although, I think the answer ‘I don’t know’ can be just as powerful as anything else.
What is one of the qualities you most enjoy about your daughter?
Martha: I most enjoy that Ann is the most upbeat enthusiastic person I know. Her most often uttered words are “that is the best (insert the name of someone, a food, a park, a drink, a restaurant, clothing, design, home) I have ever had/seen/tasted.
Shiela Walker: After almost 20 years in corporate America, I joined the Noonday Collection Home Office team in 2016 after spending two years at home with my children. In addition to leading the Product and Operations teams, I keep myself busy being a mom to Kayla (8) and Colt (6). Being a working mom can be very challenging and exhausting but being able to do both is also incredibly fulfilling and satisfying at the same time.
What is your favorite memory of your children?
Shiela: Kayla was just the best baby ever, her cheeks, her eyes. I stayed home when Colt was little and I loved walking the greenbelt here in Austin with him a lot, just the two of us.
What Is your favorite memory with your mom?
Colt: When we went to Disney.
What ways can you and your children work together as a team to create a flourishing world?
Shiela: The three of us started talking about how to make an impact in the world (they’ve started to be more curious about mom’s job) – donating towards clean water access, sponsoring a child, etc.
What is one thing you want your mom to know?
Kayla: That I love her so so so much.
