How to Layer Necklaces: 3 Easy Tips
The kids are back to school, and as Kathleen Kelly would remind us, the smell of freshly sharpened pencils surely means that fall is just around the corner. Except that it isn’t, of course—at least, not here in Austin, where real fall weather is still a good two months away. New York Fashion Week will come and go and with it photos of people donning their favorite fall trends, but here in Texas we will still be rocking our summer’s best out of necessity. However, thanks to one of our current favorite accessory trends, you can start your fall layering right now—in your necklaces!
There are so many great dainty necklaces in the Noonday Fall Collection that are just begging to be layered! They can be worn on their own, layered as a set of two or even three. It’s this year’s arm party, except for your neck.
Let’s explore some of Noonday’s best dainties—and how you can make the layer trend work for you!
First off, we love this Half Moon Necklace. You can wear it on its own with absolutely any neckline. Think of the Half Moon Necklace as your baseline, every day piece.
Now, as we start to layer, you want to think about keeping the scale the same, but mixing up the lengths. I love the Cubist Necklace because there is a lot of room to adjust how long it is and where it hits on your body.
Lastly, I added the Legacy Necklace, a shorter piece featuring gorgeous moonstone, to finish off my layered look. The best part of this three-necklace combo? Each and every one of them can be worn on their own for a totally different look.
Here are three things to think about when you’re layering your necklaces:
- Consider mixing your metals. Gold or silver, leather or beaded—experiment with different combinations that can add visual interest.
- Play around with the lengths. You can split the difference evenly between lengths, or try layering two shorter necklaces with a long pendant.
- Experiment with scale. We love dainty layers where all of the pieces are delicate, but it can also be fun to throw in one chunky piece with one delicate piece.
The bottom line? No rules, just fun…and lots of fabulous jewelry!
We’d love to see how you rock this trend in your everyday life. Tag us in your best selfies @noondaycollection on Instagram and you just might find your photo on our feed!
