Inside My Ambassador Business: Spring Sample Buying
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be part of a new Noonday line launch as an Ambassador? It’s equal parts Christmas and exciting business milestone all rolled into one!
Being a Noonday Ambassador means I get to style my friends AND change the world—how awesome is that? When it’s time to launch a new line I get to hand select the jewelry and accessories I want on display at my Trunk Shows.
Our team of designers at Noonday’s home office does an amazing job of being on-trend and fresh every season. As Ambassadors we get to see the new line about a month before it launches publicly so we can carefully plan which pieces to purchase for our displays and daily wear.
I love pouring over our freshly printed lookbook to see what catches my eye first, learn about the latest trends and colors and how they are showing up in our line, and see how all the pieces are styled and coordinated together. Suffice to say, it is very hard not to buy every new piece each season!
Before Noonday I never would have thought of myself as a style curator, but here I am and loving it! Over the six seasons I have been with Noonday, I have started to identify certain styles I know my customers will absolutely love. This is such a fun aspect of my job!
Our design team works hard creating pieces that can be worn together. When I purchase my new jewelry for an upcoming season I like to make sure I have a variety of countries, materials and colors represented. I consider what I already have and how I can build off of it to create capsules my customers will want to own. I think about size and shapes and a good mix of bold and dainty so there’s something for everyone to look at, try on and purchase.
When my carefully selected samples arrive I literally feel like a kid on Christmas morning! I clear my dining table off so I have space to open my Noonday goodies. As I open each sample, I promptly try it on, and examine it closely—things my customers like to do at Trunk Shows too! I find the piece in our lookbook so I can learn its name and which country it is made in.
Then I start to casually group pieces together to see how I’m going to display them at my shows. Once every piece has been unwrapped, gushed over and grouped with other coordinating pieces, I take stock of all my samples. There’s something magical about seeing all these beautifully handcrafted jewelry pieces and accessories together in one spot! As an Ambassador I feel honored I to represent the Artisans we partner with. It’s exciting to have new pieces to wear right away.
After I have basked in my samples’ glory, I get down to styling my display trays. I want to give women ideas of what can be worn together. Having more pieces allows you to be bold and try on something new! My favorite approach is to layer looks on my displays to add pops of color or unexpected dimension. I like to think part of my creative side gets satisfied during this process. It’s fun to change it up a little at every show!
Curating collections for my customers is one of the highlights of my job as an Ambassador. Picking out new samples at the start of a new season allows me to style customers at shows to find the exact look they are after! “It’s all about having fun with fashion,” as founder Jessica Honegger likes to say. It gives me so much joy to hand select and display items for women to see. If you’re not an Ambassador, you don’t know what you’re missing!
