Ethical Fashion at Home - Flourish by Noonday Collection

Ethical Fashion at Home

We’ve seen the hashtag #GotDressedAnyway circulating the internet, and you can’t help but either wonder why or jump on board. Noonday Ambassadors started it as a way to make themselves feel better and more productive while social distancing. Now, don’t get me wrong – it’s hard to feel motivated to get dressed when you might have nowhere to go – but it matters nonetheless. We are humans that function better with a routine. It’s important for your mental health. It’s important to your children. It’s important for you, because you do matter. Jessica Honegger, Noonday’s Founder and Co-CEO has nailed #GotDressedAnyway lately, and she’s encouraged us as a community to do the same.  I’m still heading into work as a nurse a few times a week, so pajama days definitely aren’t an option on my work days, but I’m making it a point to try my hardest the rest of the week!

If you threw out the option of leaving the day open, I can guarantee that it just might turn into a pajama day for my kids, then a week, and so forth. It would turn into possibly binge watching our favorite shows, snacking on a not-so-healthy snack because we’re bored, and so on. And that would be OK – there’s no shame here! But I make my kids get dressed every morning before they start their school work so that they don’t forget the importance of having a fresh and clean start, and it helps them set their minds for a day of learning.

Let’s take it a step further – I want to tell you why it matters oh so much more for our Artisan Business Partners. They rely on us advocating for them. Not just once a month, but rather every day.

Noonday Collection partners with Artisan Businesses in vulnerable communities where finding safe, fair work is hard to come by.  Unemployment benefits and stimulus checks are not a reality for the Artisans who make Noonday’s jewelry. Imagine working 16 or more hours a day and only earning a measly couple of dollars. This is what fast fashion offers to vulnerable communities around the world. Watching The True Cost documentary is highly recommended! Watching The True Cost, my boys were appalled by how people were treated, and they are only eleven and twelve. We watched it together so I could educate them as well as answer any questions, and it was a good way to start the conversation and help them understand the costs of fast fashion.

So, what is Noonday Collection doing to change the fashion industry? Along with other fair trade companies and Benefit Corporations, Noonday creates dignified work for those who need them. Fair trade companies are asking for us to change the way the fashion industry runs. Noonday Collection is doing its part and inviting you along the way to change the lives of Artisans around the world simply by purchasing handcrafted treasures. We are showing these individuals that through insurmountable odds, they are important, and we have their backs. As Ambassadors and customers, we choose to show they matter!

I invite you to join us in stepping up. Whether it’s through shopping, hosting a virtual Trunk Show with your friends, or becoming an Ambassador, we are inviting you to help us make the changes we wish to see – even in the midst of a confusing time.

So, let’s try to have a little fun! I’m going to show you four looks you can wear through this crazy time while we all stay home and save lives. These are looks that’ll be easy but glad that you took the time to get up, step up, , face the day, and say that you #GotDressedAnyway. Who wouldn’t like a little piece of that? Oh, and every item is ethically made!
