Celebrate Mother’s Day in Style

Do you ever follow people online and feel like if you met in “real life” you’d be instant friends? That’s exactly how we feel about Stephanie Holden of the blog Honey Holden! We’ve been following Stephanie and her beautiful family for the past few years and finally had the chance to connect with her. And it felt exactly as we had imagined it would, like old friends catching up. In honor of Mother’s Day and our own memories of sneaking into mom’s closet and “borrowing” her jewelry, we asked Stephanie and the stylish women in her family to share their Mother’s Day traditions, favorite memories and of course their Noonday Style!

Without further adieu, let’s get to know the crew: Stephanie, and her daughters Elizabeth, Lauren and Lydia, and her mom Ilona.

Meet Stephanie.

Stephanie

So Stephanie, tell us about your style…

My personal style is eclectic and changes based on how I’m feeling. I love jeans and tees with flip flops but I also love dressing up and wearing heels too. If you looked in my closet you’d find everything from vintage to boho to super feminine.

I love white denim skinnies, so for this look I paired my favorites with a black lace cutout shirt and wedges. My jewelry ties it all together and this Rushing Waters Necklace is my new favorite. I love the length, its great for layering with other necklaces like the Pambil, which is a great blush color that will go with everything. I stacked the Delta River Bangles and Raja Bangle for the perfect arm party action and then tied everything together with a pair of Cow Horn Hoop Earrings.

What is something that your mom has taught you that has shaped your life?

There’s simply not enough time to talk about all that she has taught me! My mom has experienced much loss and sorrow in her life and I have walked through some of those seasons with her and yet she is one of the most joyful people I know. Her faith is the foundation of it all and this example has been huge in my own life when faced with difficult seasons of my own.

Meet Elizabeth.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth, tell us about your style!

My personal style has many layers. I’ve never been able to pinpoint one style for myself because I like everything! While I’m drawn to simple, classy and chic, I love a pop of color as well. I love a good statement piece and earrings and rings have always been my favorite.

How has your family influenced your style?

My family is the reason I like everything – we’re made up of so many styles! We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, so we learned to make whatever we found thrifting fit our own personal styles. I love that my mom taught us how to do that!

While each of my sisters and I had our own jewelry and clothes growing up, the collaboration of our pieces together made for a much better selection. As we got older we found we could make anything work to fit our style! Momma is a little on the bolder side whereas I’m on the simpler side, so I learned to mix and match a lot of her jewelry. This has carried over into other areas of my life. I try to make whatever I’ve been blessed with my own.

Meet Lydia.

Lydia

Lydia, tell us about your style.

I’m drawn to anything colorful, happy or quirky. If it’s weird or funny I’m all over it. Oh and it has to be comfortable!

This look is so very me and one I’d wear just about anywhere. It’s fun, comfortable and has just enough sass. As you can see, I’m drawn to color so the Dainty Paper Bead Necklace and the Bonjou Bangles were a no brainer. I adore the Rushing Waters Necklace and the Minaret Earrings for their versatility – I’ll be able to dress these up or down and wear them with anything and everything.

What is something that your mom has taught you?

The first thing that comes to mind is that perfection is overrated. I’ve carried that one with me into adulthood. Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. And she has taught me that life is worth celebrating – from themed birthday parties to holidays, she’s there making our celebrations special. I love that about her.

Meet Lauren.

Lauren

Lauren, how would you describe your style?

Glamorous! Well at least I try to be. I love feeling like a “lady.” Diamonds and faux fur are definitely my signatures.

What’s your favorite thing about your mom?

My favorite thing about my mom is that she makes everything fun and can laugh at whatever comes her way. She has helped to give me the strength not to stress about the big stuff, but instead make every day an adventure. Whether I’m miles away from my family sitting on a tropical island or just sitting on my couch – I try to make everyday beautiful and embrace where I am.

What Noonday pieces would you pick out for your mom?

Well, my mom loves jewelry more than a kid loves candy, so I’m sure she’d wear anything I picked out for her. But my first pick would be the Serengeti Necklace because it has all my mom’s favorite colors and it’s bold and fun just like here. I would pair this with the Dreamweaver Earrings because big, gold earrings are her thing!

Meet Ilona, the family matriarch.

Ilona

How would you describe your personal style?

I stick to classic styles that are age appropriate, but I also mix some new styles into what I wear. I like to layer and can get more mileage out of pieces that way. I love black and white, but find orange, yellow and turquoise popping up a lot! I pick two or three trendy pieces to add a little sparkle. And speaking of sparkle, I can hardly resist the bling! Guess it runs in the family?!

For this look I wanted something classic and casual. For a pop of color, I chose the Amazonia Earrings and the Blue Resin Wood Bangles. These pieces can take me through a work day in style and then off for a ride on my new bike with a casual but comfortable look.

How were you introduced to Noonday?

I was introduced to Noonday after admiring a piece that my daughter Stephanie was wearing. She actually bought my first Noonday piece, the Bethe Rope Necklace, for me for Mother’s Day. It remains my favorite and my go to for just about everything. It is the most versatile piece I own.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Stephanie and her family as much as we did! We would love to hear some of your favorite Mother’s Day traditions, favorite things about your mom and/or style advice you’ve picked up from your mom over the years. Share with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

And don’t forget to shop by April 26 in time to spoil mom with Noonday this Mother’s Day!
